State of the Substack: Are You (Still) a Paid Subscriber?
And if not, why not? And what can I do to change you into one?
I was thinking about doing an open Zoom call for subscribers sometime in the near future, one in which I’d give you the chance to either ask questions or offer suggestions as to what you’d like to see in the newsletter and, perhaps more importantly to me at the moment, what you’d need to see in order to either inspire you to become a paid subscriber for the first time or to renew your subscription.
Print interviews?
Zoom interviews?
Weekly playlists?
Streaming recommendations?
I’m all ears…or eyes, I suppose, since I’m reading this rather than listening to it. But whatever the case, now that I don’t have those sweet, sweet bi-weekly Q Magazine paychecks coming in and I’m back to sending out emails and then enduring the interminable wait for replies, it’s definitely leaving me with more time to make my subscribers happy, happier, and even happiest.
Let me know what I can do!
I’m trying to build up some drained savings with a new (temporary) job, but i value that we are friends on FB enough that you’ve replied to my posts there. Always loved your work at The AV Club. Will provide support shortly.
I’d love to read behind the scenes details & stories of how you work and how things come together. I’d love for you to do a multi-part series on assembling the material for the AIRPLANE! book. The oral histories behind the oral histories. And all interview content cut for space.
