The first time I crossed paths with Terry Matalas was this past January: he was in attendance for the Star Trek: Picard panel at the Television Critics Association press tour, and we ended up having a few minutes to chat during the post-panel cocktail party, which in turn led to us following each other on Twitter.
Great interview! A lot of the questions I didn't know I wanted answered. I feel like the end of the Enterprise-E is going to be like the Noodle Incident in Calvin & Hobbes.
Me just finished watching finale, so this was perfect after-dinner-cookie. Me will say, when it come to fan service, there right and wrong way to do it, and Matalas largely did it right — re-examining these characters and how age has changed them and relationship to Picard, and using past as launching point for future adventures instead of just running in same old circles (glares at Star Wars).
Loved this! Great finale. Thanks for the awesome interview.
