I can see that you've tried to choose 20 tracks across their whole career, so good job, but the omissions of "Scoundrel Days" and "The Swing of Things" made me do a quadruple-take. And three songs from Memorial Beach! I can see that you are as big an a-ha fan as I but I can also see that we have very different tastes. :D
I don't necessarily know that our tastes are all that different...although maybe they are! But my list would be different if I wasn't trying to make this more of an across-the-board education rather than just a collection of favorite album tracks. If I do end up making good on furthering the list into another ten (or more!) tracks, then we may well find more common ground than you think. Trust me, I do love both "Scoundrel Days" and "The Swing of Things"!
Well, I did think "huh, does somebody unironically love 'Touchy!'?" 😂 But I suppose that it does hit the mark if you're trying to give a broad view of who they are.
Have you ever seen them live? I was at their supposed final tour back in, uh, 2009? but I can't say I'm disappointed to have them come to the US again in a few months.
I really *do* unironically love "Touchy!" But as I mentioned, it was - for reasons I can't really explain - the STAY ON THESE ROADS album where I shifted from casual fan to "I will buy anything these guys ever release" fan. I think it's just because I bought it at a time when I was truly absorbing every album I bought, and I played it incessantly.
Regrettably, I have *not* seen them live, and while I wish I could say that I'm likely to change that when they play here soon (provided the Omicron variant doesn't nip that in the bud), but I don't see my finances being in a place where I can make that happen. Ah, well, so it goes...

Yeah, I'm hoping to pick up cheap tickets as the day comes closer. I can't say I've been particularly excited by their last two albums, but they were pretty damn good live.
